MY002
Hello,
I am eligible for a TOEFL waiver in my target schools because the sole language of instruction in my undergrad uni and course was English.
I got V81 (67th %ile) in my GMAT.
So should I get the waiver or give the toefl? Do b-schools have any preference? Can my low verbal score in gmat act as an issue if I get the waiver?
Thanks in advance!
Hi
MY002,
Many business schools offer TOEFL waivers to applicants whose undergraduate education was conducted entirely in English. This is because it demonstrates a high level of proficiency in the language.
While some schools may explicitly mention TOEFL waivers on their websites, others may have internal policies that vary. It's essential to check with your target schools directly to determine their specific requirements and preferences. A low GMAT verbal score can raise concerns about your English language proficiency, even if you're eligible for a TOEFL waiver. Some schools may still require you to submit a TOEFL score to alleviate these concerns.
If you feel confident in your English language skills but want to provide additional evidence of your proficiency, taking the TOEFL can be a strategic decision. A strong TOEFL score can reinforce your language abilities and enhance your application.
In conclusion, while a TOEFL waiver can be advantageous, it's crucial to evaluate your individual circumstances and the specific requirements of your target schools. By carefully considering these factors, you can make an informed decision that maximizes your chances of admission.
