Hello,

Below is my profile.

Demographics: 31 married + child, Italian.

Education: BS in Business Administration, Bocconi University, Milan.

GPA: 3.6/4.0.

GMAT: 640 (Q44, V34)

Experience: Business Analyst for 2 years at a big IT consulting company with international exposure: United Nations - Vienna. Lots of organizational design, process design and software implementation (but not coding).

Left the company for an italian producer of garage equipment tools. Area Manager of Middle East, Africa, Balcans for 1 year. Lot of time travelling and dealing with very different cultures. Dramatic increase in sales in the areas I covered.

Left the company and now 4 years as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and specialized in M&A, accounting, financial planning, investments evaluation.

Extracurriculars: I'm a member of charitable organizations, helped to build a recreational camp in Albania with financial and personal contribution.

I know my GMAT is not very good and I had a lot of different jobs. Another weakness is my age.

As of right now I am planning on following MBA programs:

1) London Business School;
2) Oxford - SAID;
3) Cambridge - JUDGE;
4) ESADE;
5) IESE;
6) Cranfield.


Would you please evaluate my profile and tell me with which of these programs I can have the biggest chances to be in?

You correctly identified your two weaknesses: GMAT and age. They seem to be your only weaknesses, however. I really like your work, international, and extracurricular profile; very unusual, "meaty," and global, with some serious leadership too. Luckily for you, European programs skew older than do U.S. programs and 31 isn't *that* old, so your main negative really comes down to your GMAT. If the factor dragging down your score is the verbal score, and you have a quant score above the 80th percentile, than top schools may cut you some slack, assuming your spoken/written English is good. You should have no trouble getting into Cranfield or ESADE. Oxford and IESE may be your next best shots, with London and Judge hardest of all. But for all these schools the lower edge of the middle 80% of their accepted students' GMAT scores is 610-620, which you are solidly above, so if you emphasize your leadership and unusualness well enough you may get lucky with one or more of Oxford, IESE, LBS, and Judge.
