Please evaluate my chances of admittance to the following: Chicago GSB, Wharton, Columbia, NYU, HBS
GMAT : 720 (q51, v37). Just got my AWA of 6
Nationality : Indian
Undergrad : MS Information Systems and dual degree in MMS (CGPA of 9.39/10.0) from BITS, Pilani in India
Male , 29 years old
Work Experience:
5 years in Supply Chain Consulting, working with some big companies and in different countries, though primarily in the USA.
Extracurricular :
- Management Association President in BITS
- Volunteer for a NGO called Asha
Goal :
To get into a leadership position. Planning to major in Finance to get skills in a different area to get me prepared for the leadership role
Question : I am talking about experience with working on impact of M&As on SCM and that got me interested to study more on M&A and major in Finance. Does this story gel together and should I be this specific in my essays?

Sorry for the delayed reply; the first-round deadlines are upon us. You didn't give me much information to go on, but what you did provide does not suggest to me that you would be competitive at schools like HBS, Columbia, Chicago, and Wharton. You may have a chance at NYU, but it will depend on the quality of your leadership and impact stories at work and in the community and on how well you present yourself as a unique applicant in the essays.
Your explanation for why M&A sounds reasonable to me, and, yes, I do recommend that you explain it in detail in your essays.

Thanks for your reply. I wanted to understand what part of my application do you feel is the weakest? I have had multiple leadership roles as part of my under-grad as well as multiple awards in my work life. I hope my essays would be decent (I have long term goals of getting into a leadership role with a short term goal of getting into finance to learn a new domain, different from supply chain consulting). Is there something specific I can do at this point to make my apps to these schools stronger?
