Male (Indian)- 28 years

Works as a Software Engineer in an MNC in the US. Work Experience of 5+ years by the time I join the program.

GMAT: 670 (Q-48, V-35)

undergraduate study in CS department (2nd in all-time list since 1983)

2) Gold Medallist in Computer Science Department in my undergraduate study.

3) GPA of 3.9 during Master's study in US.

4) Published various papers in different magazines during study and professional job.

5) Various IT certifications (non-job related).

6) Various awards during undergrad and grad study.

Extracurricular:

1) Class Representative during all 4 years of undergrad study (selected based on excellent
academic and leadership abilities)

2) Close to getting Black Belt in Taekwondo (Martial Arts).

3) CO-captain of cricket team during all 4 years of undergrad study.

4) Teaching Assistant during Master's study.

senior and disabled people.

2) Mentor to various students during undergrad study.

4) Participated in various charity events throughout my career.

What are my chances in top 10 schools (INSEAD, Wharton, MIT, Stern etc)

keeplearning,

Sorry for the long delay in replying. I didn't see your post until just now. Your fairly common profile (male, Indian, IT), less-than-awesome GMAT, and age relative to managerial experience (not a lot, I'm assuming) make me think top ten schools will be a bridge too far for you. Of the four you mentioned, Stern would be the most doable but I would still regard that as a definite longshot for you.

Apologies again for the late answer.

How can you say top 10 schools are a long shot for this guy? He has demonstrated his academic aptitude both in his home country and through Master's GPA in the US. He would like to attend business school so that he can cultivate and grow his leadership ability. He should be competitive at many of the top 10's.

Sorry, Indian males with his academic success and IT background are a dime a dozen (and on average have a significantly higher GMAT). Why would he beat out all the other Indian clones looking for a spot in the top ten?
