Hi there!

Please take a look at my profile and let me know what you think my chances are for the following schools:

1) Ivey
2) Rotman
3) Schulich
4) Any US schools?
5) Really interested in INSEAD but think it'll be a real stretch for me...

Your advice is greatly appreciated! :-)

Background
========
- Female Canadian-Chinese

Work Experience
===========
- total 5 years of experience in one of the world's top IT company, of which 2 years were spent working in the Caribbean
- specialize in business process management
- Excellent career progression so far, e.g. identified by management as executive talent (the company actually has an official program for this, only a few % of people get on this list)


References
========
- No problem getting strong references from work


Now here comes the weak parts...


Undergrad and GMAT
=========================
- GPA: 2.8
- GMAT: 1st try --> 640 (Q38 V40); 2nd try --> 640 again (Q46 V33)...too focused on improving the Q part on my 2nd try!

Extracurricular
==========
- I'm involved in lots of other activities in my company that has nothing to do with my day job, not sure if these count, e.g. mentor grade school girls about IT, a program supported by the company
- Involved in church but nothing major

Reason for doing the MBA
=================
- Want to get into operations or strategy consulting in a good firm (like Bain...but might be a stretch...not sure given my background...)

I apologize for not answering your post sooner. The first-round deadlines really swamped me and I'm just now coming up for air. IMO you have enough strong or distinctive aspects to your profile to get into better schools than you might otherwise think given your 640. I refer to the fact that you are female, seem to be on a high-pot career track, and have a distinctive 'international' profile given your Canada, China, Carribean mix. So I think you have a good chance at the three schools you mentioned, and a good/decent chance as well at the following consulting-oriented U.S. B-schools: Emory, Georgetown, Geo. Washington, maybe CMU as long shot. And yes the community stuff you do for work counts, just maybe not as much.
