I am an IT analyst with an Indian IT company working for the Telecommunications Industry for the last four years.
GMAT: 700 (88% V, 81% Q, 5.5 AWA)
Academics: 76% in B.Tech(Computer Science) from a reputed Indian university.
Career:
a) I started off as a developer and now I have moved to be part of client's sales group. Currently, I provide technical support to the marketing and sales groups of my client. Though my title does not specifically state anything about my marketing knowledge, I have acquired good level of technical marketing skills through product demonstrations at customer sites and technology roadshows. I have been instrumental in several of our client's product sales at US and Canadian service providers. Most of my leadership has been in such informal roles and situations. But I have led good number of such projects and initiatives. My current job of pre and post sales support has also helped me acquire cross functional expertise.
b) I got promoted ahead of the normal schedule to my current level within the company.
c) Total Work Experience: 4 years
International work experience:
a) 3 years in the U.S.
b) Worked closely with customers in China, Canada and the UK.
ExtraCurriculars:
a) Occasional involvement in my company's corporate social responsibility activities.
b) Have had a fruitful theater performance experience. I have enacted several English plays during school and college.
c) Job Placements Secretary for the Computer Science Class of 2003 for our department.
d) Good involvement in sports in college. Represented department and the hostel for various competitions.
e) Won top awards in debates and elocution competitions in college.
My Goals:
After MBA, I want to stick to the same industry - Wireless Telecommunications. I want to use MBA to specialise in high-tech product management. I will acquire general management skills such as finance, marketing, accounting to develop into a good product manager.
Target Schools:
Round 1: UCLA and Duke. (Already applied)
Round 2: Indiana, Ross, CMU, and UNC.
Am I overreaching with these colleges ? Please help me arrive at a balanced list of colleges. Could you please suggest any other colleges that may fit my requirement?
