Career Goals:
----------------
Want to use my current skills in learning/researching technologies to integrate and utilize in software development in the business arena. I want to perform in the role of a Corporate Development manager/executive to help the company identify strategically beneficial technologies and companies to either acquire, merge with, or partner with. I want to become involved in the business decision making to grow the company either organically or inorganically and have participation in the corporate strategy that will dictate how we go about this.
However, from talking with people currently in these roles, I've found that having an investment banking (M&A) background is by far the best way to get there. Many of the skills needed are shared in common with banking roles (deal making, valuation/modeling, etc.)
So I see myself going from an MBA->Investment Banking(M&A)->Corporate Development.
I'm interested in applying to Haas(berkeley)/Anderson(ucla)/Wharton/Chicago/Columbia and maybe Stanford. I believe my age (34) is acting against me since most MBA programs are getting younger and younger.. especially Stanford.
What are my chances and what might I be lacking for each of the schools?
Thank you.
