Hi! I'd truly appreciate it if you could provide me with a profile evaluation. I'm an Indian with a non-technical background and only international work experience as of yet.
Target Schools:- Columbia (dream school)
- Stern (realistic?)
- Insead (Jan 09 Session) (realistic?)
- Georgetown (backup school)
EducationEconomics undergrad from a small liberal art school in the US; Undergrad GPA 3.43
GMAT: 730 (96%tile)
Work Experience: 6 months as a Project Planner with a leading credit card company to start out with. Then 3 years with a top US Management/IT Consulting firm as a Management/Sr. Management Analyst (in a non-technical role). All in the US.
Current situation:I quit my job about 10 days ago as I had to move back to India due to family reasons. I will be applying and hopefully, starting work here within the next month.
Leadership/Community involvement:I have had some good leadership opportunities (in the course of my professional exp.) that I can elaborate upon. My community involvement has been severely limited at best.
Some other characteristics:Speak two languages and have working knowledge of a third. Play multiple musical instruments; formed a band in college and performed several stage shows.
Brief objective:I am looking to make a career switch from consulting to finance (private equity/VC/hedge fund/banking). I am looking to expand my existing knowledge with an MBA and use this degree as a launchpad for a new career.
Some specific questions:- What is your assessment of my candidacy?
- Keeping in mind that I've already missed R1 and R2 deadlines and that R3 and R4 (where allowed) are much more competitive, I am debating whether applying for 09 sessions will make better sense than applying for 08 session. What do you suggest?
