Hi Paul,
I am applying for Duke EMBA program for class starting in 2009. Last year in June, I changed job and move from Motorola to Cisco. I have a question regarding the following essay question:

Assume we know nothing of your industry, your organization, and your job. Briefly describe what products and services your organization provides and your top three job responsibilities within the organization. Address your impact on organization strategy and your level of decision-making ability. Tell us why you want to earn the MBA, how it fits into your career plan, and what you will contribute to the MBA program. If you are applying to the Cross Continent or Global Executive program, please discuss your international experience.

1. While describing about organization, industry and job, can I describe about my previous company and job since I have more concrete stories from that company, organization and job, and not talk about my current job as it has been only seven months I joined my new job.
2. If answer to the above question is yes, then what and how do I say the reason I did not talk about my current job.

Unfortunately, the way the question is worded compels you to focus on your current company rather than your previous company IMO. I *do* think you could work in some material about your previous job (perhaps in addressing the "Tell us why you want to earn the MBA" part of the essay), but the main focus should be your current position.
