sng,

"Would the adcoms be convinced that my time of MBA education should be viewed differently since I am from graphic design industry?"
--Not sure I understand you. If you have reasons for needing an MBA and can state them in a convincing way, then it doesn't matter that your pre-MBA career was design. If your reasons for needing the MBA are good ones, then the unusualness of your pre-MBA career is actually an asset: it helps you stand out from other applicants. If you don't really need an MBA to advance, because you're in graphic design, then they won't understand why you are applying and they will ding you.

"Also how would volunteer leadership differ from school, military or business leadership in the adcoms' standpoint?"
--Volunteer leadership shows greater selflessness and social idealism because it's done voluntarily to help others. Military service can also count as "public service" but to the extent that it is required by the government or is paid work, it is less compelling than volunteer work *in terms of showing a desire to impact society positively.* But in terms of showing your ability to lead others, volunteer, school, military, and business stories would be judged equally according to (a) the impact you had, (b) the number of people you led, and (c) what it taught you about leadership.

Good luck,
