Right now, I'm studying for my GMAT and know I need 700+. Here 's why. I'm looking at applying to the following schools:
UNC, USC, Rice, Texas, Duke, UCLA, UVA, and Emory
I wanted to get your advice on my situation in regards to the schools I just listed:
I graduated from a large state school, top 50 in the country, with a 3.07 in Finance. The problem is I have two WFs (Withdraw Failings) on my transcript, closer to 3.3 without the WFs. I made an A and a B when I retook the classes. I think I can explain them within the essays, but I wanted to ask several questions.
How high does my GMAT need to be to offset for the schools I'm loooking at? I know the higher the better, but realistically. Also, will AdComs tend not to look at it as highly if I've worked hard since then and I have a strong GMAT and other parts of my app are strong? What I'm really worried about is that pretty much no one else will have WF's on their transcript and get in at those schools and they'll just ding me right off the bat. What else can I do short of curing AIDS between now and when I submit my apps to increase my chance of acceptance? Should I take a class this summer and if so what should I take?
