Can I get in to the top 10 bschools with my profile

Question

Hi,

I just took gmat yesterday i got 680. I am not sure if this score will suffice. Can you please tell me what chance i hold of securing a seat in the top 10 to 20 bschools with my score.

I have 2 years work ex at Yahoo!
I have bachelors as well as a masters degree.

My verbal and quants break down are as follows

Verbal - 34, 69 percentile
Quants - 48, 84 percentile
Over all - 680, 86 percentile

From what I've seen, GMAT score by itself won't get anyone in by itself. Neither will your GPA by itself, where you've worked, your alma mater, undergrad activities, etc.

You really need to include more details about what you've done in school, in work, your major as a grad and undergrad student, GPA, etc. for people here to make a suggestion.

680 is a little under the average for a top 10 B-school- I believe the average is a 700, but 10-20 might be doable. Read some of the other posts here and compare yourself to the competition to get a better feel of where you stand.

Thanks for the reply. here's some more info about me

I did BCA (bachelor of computer application) with 75% and MCA (master of computer application) with 80%. in india we dont have the concept GPA. 
BCA and MCA are specialized programs for computer science so i guess you can say computer science was my major in both grad and undergrad.

now my work ex. i have been working for Yahoo R & D india for the last 2 years. i interned at yahoo for 6 months prior to my employment. 
i am in good terms with my peers and supervisors, and i have got a lot of commendations lately along with a promotion. so i guess my superiors will be able to vouch for me by means of recommendations.

I apologize for missing your post when it first went up. You do have a chance at several top 20 schools, but which ones will depend on what your goals are and how good your chances are depends on how much leadership you can talk about either at work or outside it (and ideally both). Certainly the "brand" of the firms you work for will help you a bit, and if you can give the adcoms some insights into what these firms are up to in your market, you may stand out from the crowd a bit.
