Hi, I did my grad in BITS Pilani University 6th best grad school in India.
My GPA - 6.7/10 (expected) in my final semester
I'm aiming for ultra-elite B-schools. I would like to know what should be my target GMAT score, or whether it is possible for me to get in ultra-elite B-schools. I have little managerial experience as Organizing Committee (Event Manager) in our National Technical Festival.
I have no experience as of now but as part of our curriculum we will do 6 month internship in an industry(in our final year). Will this 6months be considered as valid work experience or not? I have done 2month summer internship as well during my 2nd year of UG but i guess that wont be considered.
Please clear my ambiguities.
Does a good GMAT score like 750+ can get me an ultra-elite b-school despite my weakness in my GPA. I understand that i need to get more work experience but i would like to give GMAT now and use the score when i have 1-2years of work experience :). Please assist me!!

Approach the GMAT and aim for an 800. Then deal with whatever score you obtain. Your GPA is a little low for the top programs, but it is possible that excellent work experience, an high GMAT, and a record of leadership on and off the job can compensate and enable a possible acceptance at a top program.

Your internships "count." However what counts more than X months or Y years is what you actually accomplished and contributed whether as an intern or an employee or a business owner. Given that your GPA is a little low, I advise you to work for a year or two after your graduation and not rely exclusively on your internships. Put a little distance and time and hopefully establish a record of ultra-elite achievement before you aim to get accepted at ultra-elite schools.

You can obtain the GMAT score now or anytime within 5 years prior to your needing that score. However no score will guarantee your acceptance. It is necessary, but insufficient to "get you in" on its own.

Best,
Linda
