Hi Linda and Paul,
I am about to start my application process and was hoping you could take a look at my profile.
Male/25/Ontario Canada
GMAT 700 Q49/V35
GPA - 3.2
Experience
Mutual Fund Company in Canada 2 years
Currently working as in the Financial Adjustment Department after being promoted internally from an entry level resolution position. The position consists of reviewing reports, performing calculations and assuring that accounts and funds are being priced correctly on the system.
Prior to this 1 year as a Credit Analyst with a Global Banking Company
Extra Curricular Activities
Help organize a yearly charity run/marathon of 1500 participants which benefits Aboriginals in the province. Have worked on this for 2 years obtaining a more senior position each year.
Captain of both and indoor and outdoor beach volleyball team.
I realize nothing on my resume is exciting, I am taking the advice you have provided to author candidates to real separate myself in the essay process. Tell a story that will allow them to remember me. I will address my low GPA as I was required to take on a full time job while going to school. Between the GMAT score and completing level 1 of the CFA I think it will show I am studious.
I am targeting Darden and Haas as my two schools of choice (I have visited both and love them equally) they both have an entrepreneurial focus and I will get alot out of both programs. Ideally I would like to intern for the summer at a consulting firm and both schools have the big names as their main recruiters.
My backup safety school would be Rotman in Toronto.
As I embark on the application process are there any words of advice?
Thanks in advance
Andrew
