Hi,
Thanks in advance for the feedback.
Here’s my info:
Male/30/Chinese citizen
BS in Accounting from a top Chinese university
GPA: 83/100 – which I’d say is a solid B equivalent
GMAT: 750 (51Q/40V/5AWA)
Experience – 4.5 years auditing in Big 4 firm; 3.5 years finance controller in large multi-national company, most of that time in managerial positions (1 year of that in Japan, managing team of 4 Japanese finance managers)
Extracurricular – minimal extracurricular involvement during undergrad – but should be taken in context of Chinese undergrad experience in late 90’s when extracurricular were still fairly nonexistent
Short term goals: corporate finance position in US headquarters of multi-national company
Long term goal: China/Asia CFO for multi-national company
Schools: Wharton, Harvard, Chicago, Columbia, NYU, Yale, Duke, UCLA (safety?)
NOTE: Unfortunately the earliest TOEFL exam I could register for is in late January which is past most of the second round admission deadlines. I plan on submitting all my other materials by the second round deadline but fear that without the TOEFL score my application won’t be considered until the third round.
Also my one ‘worry factor’ is my GPA from college. Should I write an ‘optional statement’ explaining this?
And of course I'm worried about my age, that I may be too old.

GPA isn't the issue at all.
If you aren't able to get the TOEFL scores in before the R2 deadlines, your application will be evaluated in the third round. That will be an issue not only from an admissions standpoint (chances are slim across the board), but also from an immigration standpoint if you need a US student visa because your visa application may not be approved by the USCIS before school starts - that's why adcoms really want internationals to apply by R2.
Also, your age/years of experience will be an issue for HBS and to some extent Wharton. I wouldn't consider UCLA a safety for you. In fact, safeties are going to be outside the top 16. For the other schools, you'll have an uphill battle convincing the adcom why you need to go full-time -- if the goals you wrote are for real, then you're better off going for executive MBA programs or part-time programs in any case -- and you'll likely be a far better fit for those programs.
In fact, that's what I would suggest. Go for an executive or part-time program instead of applying to full-time programs.

Thanks for your frank assessment - even if it wasn't exactly what I was hoping to hear.
I understand that my age and work experience may be more in line with the profile of part-time MBA students. However would you mind clarifying how the goals I outlined above also indicate to you that I'd be a better fit for a part-time program?
At this point in time I don't think an E-MBA is appropriate for me since I'd have issues with funding and I think I'm still a little too young.
Lastly, is it an issue for international students (who do not currently live in the US or have a job offer pending there) to apply for a part time program?
