I recently applied to Management Leaders for Tomorrow (MLT) and was accepted. How might my participation in such a program help me stand out to admissions committees?

It's a vote of confidence from a respected group. In addition their program should help yo prepare excellent applications. Frankly, I think the latter benefit is more important than the former, but they both help.

Best,
Linda Abraham

Linda: Thanks for the response. I agree that the latter is more important/valuable which is why I applied in the first place. It's great to hear that it's a respected group that sees something in me. I was actually surprised to not find anything referencing MLT here on gmatclub.com. Maybe I can get some positive dialogue going. I will likely defer this year since I'm still studying for the GMAT. Nonetheless, I'm excited about the opportunity and its potential for helping me with the b-school process and beyond. FYI I LOVE accepted.com; chat archives are great; looking forward to reading more post-GMAT of course!

Thanks for the great feedback. :-D. Good luck on the GMAT.

Best,
Linda

No problem. The lauds are warranted. Has Accepted.com ever been invited to speak to groups of students or potential applicants?

Not yet :) by ML4T, but by other groups, yes.

Thank you for confirming. I'm an alum of a scholarship program that I believe would be very interested in Accepted and vice versa. I'll be in touch. Also, I'm sure what my involvement with MLT will be over the next year or so but I'll try to make an introduction anyhow.

Seeing your post here a little late in the year, but a quick question for you- I have been looking into ML4T's MBA Prep program now for a couple of years and curious if you decided to take part or are you still deferring your participation? Also, any insight for their application? It goes live for their 2012 MBAP class later this month.

Thanks,
A

I apologize for the delay. I also looked at ML4T's Prep for a couple of years. I deferred my participation but intend to participate in next year's class. Regarding the application, be authentic, clear, and unique. I have been involved in various groups of extremely talented minority candidates. A counterpart with similar if not better credentials than my own was waitlisted. He asked me about my b-school goals (entertainment technology) and stated that he clearly understood how my goals set me apart. I'm not interested in the norm. Therefore, I recommend that you clearly articulate your goals and how you intend to influence your respective field as well as others. By the way, two ML4T prep alums (pre and post acceptance) were also intrigued by my goals. Speak with alums. Give them your spiel/pitch. They will be honest with you if you need to work on it. They will also help you strengthen it. Let me know if want to contact current participants.

First of all, MLT gives excellent support to candidates and that means you should have a better application. I am not sure that being accepted to MLT in and of itself helps you in the admissions process.

Linda
