Hi easternwind,
You have the same challenge that many other applicants here will have: finding parts of your profile to emphasize so that you stand out vs. the hundreds of other "Indian/IT" applicants who will apply to these schools. You mentioned that you are a member of an NGO, but more important is being able to show that you've taken a leadership role and really made a difference. Many applicants mistakenly believe that they just need to "show up" and attend events, but what's most important is being able to point to specific instances where you made a positive difference.
Your layoff has certainly been a setback, but your teaching experience might actually provide for some very good material for you to use in your admissions essays and interview.
Your GMAT quant score is a bit on the low side (we tell our clients that ideally their quant and verbal scores are each at least above the 80th percentile), but given the fact that deadlines are just 2-3 weeks away, you may not have enough time to take it again, and that time might be better spent on other parts of your application, anyway.
This is just for fun (don't take the results too seriously), but you can try plugging your profile into this tool and see what schools it thinks you'll be competitive at!
