Hi Harsh,

Check out LBS, Cambridge, LSE, Cass (London), HEC (Paris), Oxford, Manchester, Nanyang.

Some of these have multiple degrees - some are finance focused (more of portfolio analysis, investments, corp fin etc) while the others are quant focused. They also comes in various flavours/packaging - M-Fin, MSc (Fin), MSc (Fin & economics) etc. So be careful which ones you pick.

If you are unsure, check out the syllabus. That should help you pick the right degree.

Hi Sameer,
Do you suppose you can give me names of a few colleges from US as well? The only programme I know of is MIT Sloan's MIF. I am sure there would be other world class educational institutes offfering such a course.
If you are aware of such courses, please be kind enough to share.

Regards,
Harsh

You are in risk management, that is an added advantage while applying for MiF/MFE. Most of the good US schools conducting MFE will need background on calculus etc. If you want to go for those courses, u ll have to give GRE Subject Mathematics (little tough, since you are a commerce graduate). Other Masters in Finance courses in US, which doesn't require mathematical background, are very general and have low ranking.

Schools which suits you:
1. LBS (requires good work experience..... ur current profile is good for that)
2. LSE/Oxford/Cass/HEC/Cambridge (less work-ex is fine)
3. NUS RMI/NTU

Some of these (mentioned above) still need mathematical background and their courses focus on mathematical topics. You can research that and remove from your target list.

Garp FRM is not a big thing, just a certification. But it will show your interest in financial markets. So, will add some value to your application package.

Hi Harsh,

It's got a substantial amount of quant focus - Fin Math Programming, Financial modelling, Quantitative finance.

Thought you wanted to stay away from that. Change of heart?

Thanks Sameer,
I just counted the courses. There are 43 courses that are to be covered in 12 months. It sounds incredulous to me that anyone can actually learn 43 topics in 12 months. I, when i gave contents a first look, thought that one has to select x number of electives out of 43 on offer. Will try to clarify this assumption of mine from someone.
Besides, after your reply regarding quants at MBA, I have been feeling better about it. Calculus and vector can wait, but I am fairly confortable with statistics.
So, I hope to scrape through.
But then, there is a lot of time and a lot of research left.
Thank you so much for your reply.

Regards,
Harsh

Hey,
Just found out...not all the courses are compulsory. There are electives, though I am yet to know which are electives and which are core...

Hi fellows,
Can someone be kind enough in telling me, or rather, giving a review of IE business school's Masters in Advanced Finance course. There are people who say that it's a very good school & course, whereas contrary views are available as well.
Kindly oblige.

Harsh
