Hello! I am planning on applying this year for Fall 2011 matriculation (class of 2013)
male, 26 upon matriculation
Graduated 2007 from a large state university in the South.
3.06 GPA (3.5GPA in my major, Marketing) BBA degree
730GMAT, Q48 83%, V42 95%, overall 96%
Work Exp: 4 yrs (at matriculation) at a global IT consulting firm.
- started out doing project management/reporting type work for a large outsourcing project.
- currently doing QA-testing work on the same project.
- recently promoted to team lead, now managing 9 people. (note: this is a ROLE change, not a title promotion, ie no salary adjustment)
Personal:
President of a young local fraternity in school; as an alum helped start the alumni association and the fraternity's endowment.
Instructor for several driving clubs (if you've heard of "DE's" or "track days", thats what i do) - youngest instructor at many clubs, developed 30+ students without incident (ie no crashes on my watch), demonstrate extreme confidence and technical prowess in a ridiculously dangerous environment - imagine abt 150 cars at a weekend event, probably 2 on average will get "totaled". dunno how to phrase this one better..
questions:
- GPA is probably the biggest standout. i am considering taking online classes in Calculus to demonstrate my quant abilities (since i got a C in college). I have no "story" to explain my GPA, other than the fact that my Major GPA was 3.5. don't know if thats significant or not. Grades didn't get significantly better my senior year, and in fact they probably suffered since i was interviewing nearly every day (which was because i was having so much trouble finding a job, which was cause i had pretty poor grades...

) thoughts on that?
- Any thoughts on having a single employer this whole time? I've shown progression at the company but not sure if adcoms will want to see multiple employers.
- My current salary: when i was hired in 2007 it was at market value, cause our firm does a pretty good job of hiring people at market rate. Raises, however, are not consistent with the market, and as such, my current salary is less than what a fresh 2010 grad would be getting! Will this be looked poorly upon since the adcom's likely won't know the salary structure at my firm? is this worth explaining?
Schools:
Georgetown, Darden, Fuqua, Stern, Columbia, Tuck.
Thanks in advance for you kind suggestions!
