Linda,

Thanks for your reply
Some more information that may help
demographic data (age- 26, sex- M, nationality- Indian)
school- I graduated from IIT(reputed Engineering Institute in India)
Profesionnal experience- I am working in oil& Gas business as an engineer. My responsibilities include technical as well as managerial work. I am unable to understand what do you mean by "indication of growth". I am currently on the verge of my promotion and I am expecting some good responsibilities later this year.

regards,
sanjeev

Linda,
My rank was 4th in my class.
Cumulative GPA 8.3/10 (i.e. 83%)

I (in a team) have also organized National Youth Festival, India . and
participated & organized technical fest in the college.

We(I and my colleagues) organize annual seminar for school students to spread post school career awareness and to enhance soft skills.

Linda, appreciate your patience and thanks for taking time to answer my queries.

regards,
sanjeev

Sanjeev (and all other Indian students reading this post),

Please, please don't translate your grade percentage unless the school asks you to do so. 8.3 is much higher than a 3.3 at most US colleges. The US business schools are very experienced when it comes to interpreting Indian percentages, especially from IITs. Don't sell yourselves short by translating unless the schools ask you to do so.

Have you considered retaking the GMAT? Given both your competition, your previous success in schools, and your experience (which does look more intriguing with more detail), your GMAT is holding you back and hurting your chances at your target programs.

So yes, the additional information makes me somewhat less pessimistic, it doesn't really change my mind. I still think your acceptance at your target programs is unlikely just a little more likely than before. A higher (and balanced) GMAT would make you a competitive candidate at these schools.

Best,
Linda

Thanks Linda for the information

I am considering now to take GMAT again.
On the same note, can you suggest what are the fall outs of the option that:
I apply to the relevant B Schools, and in case I am not selected I retake GMAT and apply next year again. (yeah that would mean one more year) but apart from that--
Is re-applying to a Bschool counted a negative trait. especially for my targets(LBS, INSEAD Kellogg)

Sanjeev

Sanjeev,

You're welcome.

INSEAD has traditionally been a little harder for reapplicants. There is no stigma to reapplying to LBS and Kellogg. Just make sure the second time around it better.

Best,
Linda
