I was rejected in ISB this yr after an interview. I thought everything was going good. My essays were good (as per the feedback from my friends and ex-ISBians) and my interview was decent.
Here are the details:
Age: 30 yrs (Indian)
GMAT - 730 Q 50 , V 38
Work Experience
Total 5.5 yrs of exp in IT field. Experience in consulting, have been working closely with client since last 3 yrs. Have played different roles - Developer, Business analyst, Team lead.
Education
> Masters in Computer Application with CGPA of 8.4 / 10 from one of the top institutes in India
> Bachelor in Computer Application with 78% score from an average institute
Extra curricular
> I, along with my friends, formed Computer club during graduation and organized 1st IT festival in college. (Nov 00 to Feb 01)
> worked on IT projects as freelancer during graduation and post-graduation.
> Volunteered for central govt project COILNEt for developing localized IT content for people of a backward state (Sep 03 to Nov 03)
> Moderating forums and guiding GMAT aspirants at gmatclub.com (Jun 09 till date)
> Participation in an Fine Arts Forum since last one year, where I post my paintings as well as learn from others.
Post MBA Goals
to work as management consultant in IT field post MBA.
Awards
> University topper during Post Graduation in 2nd semester
> Excellence award in school for scoring high marks in science subjects
> Have won few awards in fine arts during school (no recent one
). All India Rank 2 in the entrance exam for Bachelor of Fine Arts in one of the reputed Fine Arts college in India. Though I never took an admission.
Changes in profile after ding
> Received 3 Thanks awards from peers in my company
> Have gained a good reputation and network at gmatclub.com
> Have become a part of Interview Panel in my company
> Mentoring couple of junior resource in career and technical guidance in my company
> Published one white paper on ERP (though it was a technical one)
My Questions to you
1. Could you please provide your feedback on my profile.
2. Also could you please suggest some Top ranked B-schools good for Consultancy as a career.
3. Schools which could be a good option for me.

Thanks a lot Linda for your feedback. I agree I don't have very strong leadership initiatives in my profile, but still I can list a few ones.
- In school I was boarding house prefect,
- during my Bachelors course, I was class representative, representing my class in college general elections.
- Me and a group of others, formed Computer club during graduation and organized 1st IT festival in college.
- In my office I have played role of Team Lead (though nothing exciting about it), have mentored junior resources outside my team, and I have been part of interview panel.
- At gmat club guided several gmat aspirants and started various threads related to Indian B-schools
Do you think these could impress adcom? Do you see any chance of mine in either of top 5 or would that be a strech.
