An August test date should be okay. Assuming you do well on the GMAT then, you will still have more than a month to focus on your applications for Round 1. Ideally you're not solely focused on the GMAT up until your test date, but you could do a little "pre-work" on the rest of your applications, particularly in getting the ball rolling with your recommendation writers.

But, in short, yes, August should work well for you, schedule-wise.
