30 year white old male
Undergrad:
School: University of Arizona
Degree: B.S. Econ/Business
GPA: 3.0 (drastic improvement over course of college career)
GMAT:
Took 6 years ago, scored 730. Retaking. (Assuming 730 or so)
Extra Curriculars:
Big Brother - Mentored inner city kid for last year and have been involved in his personal development.
Outside of work:
Work out alot. Like alot.
Work Experience:
Marine Corps Infantry (1st and 2nd Lieutenant) - Did tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. Recognized for pretty prestigious award for the amount of patrols I led. Was in charge of leading 30 young privates into and of combat zones. Have great leadership experiences and stories.
Target Schools:
USC, Columbia, Chicago, Wharton, Virginia, Dartmouth
Career Goals:
Primary: Finance Related (unsure, but I-banking, cmam, etc. - anything except corporate finance).
Secondary: Strategy consulting
My main question is: What schools are in my 'range' and how should I brand myself to have a shot at Wharton?

Obviously your low-ish GPA is an issue, but the upward trend and a strong GMAT should help you. Your military experience is also an asset. You appear to be applying to a range of schools, and I think that's a good idea for you. You have a shot at all the programs on your list, including Wharton, but most are really tough schools. You may also want to consider Dukeand NYU Stern, considering your goals and background, but your list is solid.
