Hi,
Could you please evaluate my chances for 2011 matriculation? Thank you!
Nationality: Indian
Age: 28 at matriculation (fall 2011)
Undergrad: Mid tier Indian engineering school ( Computer Science, GPA ~ 3.5)
Graduate School: Top 10 US university (Computer Science GPA 3.6)
GMAT: 770 ( Q50, V47)
Work experience: Close to 3.5 years (at matriculation) in an oil super-major (think Exxon, Shell, Chevron, not BP!!) in USA.
I have been a business analyst and led 2 project in to improve oil field management processes.
Promoted to the role of Project manager 2 months ago. Currently managing a project to implement process safety standards in oil field across USA.
Extra curricular:- (Currently involved) Volunteer firefighter for 4 years in India and USA. 20 hrs/week and very passionate about this
- Awarded teaching assistantship during graduate school
- Lots of leadership accomplishments in grad school
- worked for a holocaust survivor rehabilitation non profit for 1.5 years
Short term Goal: All the oil majors have MBA leadership program for which they hire top MBA students. I wish to work in this program immediately after MBA. Most of the top leadership at my company is a graduate of this program
Long term Goal: Senior leadership position (VP, C-level) in an energy major.
The concern that I have is that my undergrad wasn't stellar. I was a very average, subdued kid in undergrad. However, becoming a firefighter made me confident and I have accomplished a lot more (I think) since I became a firefighter.
Also, do you think I am on the wrong side of the HBS age spectrum? Is it a big concern?
I have been assured of good recommendations from my supervisor, a project manager and the fire chief at my fire station( third reco for HBS)
I am planning to apply to
HBS/W/K/Sloan/Columbia/Booth.
What do you think?
