I graduated with a rather weak overall gpa 2.8 BBA finance from a pretty low ranked state school. major GPA was 3.5ish with last 2 years around a 3.2. GMAT score of 740. Will have 3.5 years professional experience in retail banking managemet/loan officer work by the time I start.
I really like the MS FInance programs at Tulane and Vandy. Am I being realistic or do I need to aim lower. My letters of recomendation are pretty weak but my scores and personal statement/essays are pretty good.

Poor letters of rec can really hurt. Until I read that sentence, I thought that given your GMAT and work experience Vandy and Tulane would be good options. Can you get letters from people who are more positive about you?

Thank you for responding. The people who will write them really like me and would say positive things in a phone interview but unfortunately they are not proffesors or upper level management. Their writing is just not very strong and they both asked me to just write the letter for them....so I am not expecting much.
Also are there some other programs I should be looking at with 1 year MSF programs who weigh GMAT scores highly for admittance. I figure I have no shot at top 20 programs with my gpa but would be nice to have some other options in case I dont get into either of top 2 choices.
