H/S/W - reach, but within range (military guys like you have a better shot than most engineers, bankers, consultants who apply there).

Kellogg, Sloan, Chicago, Columbia, Tuck - target. You should have a decent shot of getting in.

Any school outside of this should be a reasonable safety, assuming you don't screw up the applications and interviews.

Thanks Alex. Last question - I was considering taking a couple quantitative business courses through UCLA extension, to further show I am committed to academics. Even with my GMAT score, is it worth it? Again, my target school is Dartmouth. Thanks.

It may not be necessary in your case, but if you have the time, it's good to do just for safety - take 2 courses (calculus, accounting, stats, etc. - doesn't matter so long as it's math-oriented) and you'll be fine.

Alex, thanks again for the response. A couple other questions popped up. Does applying to an MBA program at your alma mater give you any advantage? And does applying early action give you a significant advantage (particularly in my case with a low gpa)? Thanks.

Yes for both - but marginal (not a huge difference but yes there's a benefit).
