Hello,

Your undergraduate major was in computer engineering, so you may come across as an "IT" applicant simply for that reason. More generally, your studies in engineering will indeed put you in the "Indian/engineering" camp, although I understand that that's not what you've been doing for a career since college.

It's just the way it is... Top b-schools get applicants from far more Indiana (U.S.- or India-based) than they can admit, so you need to make sure you have enough interesting things to talk about that you won't be easily lumped into that bucket.
