Hi Linda,
Thanks so much for what you do on here... I have yet another profile eval if you would be kind enough:
Personal: US citizen/male/white/age 25
Education: Midwestern mid-major state school – 3.8 GPA; Dual degree: BS Computer Science, BS Bus. Admin (Financial Economics specialization)
GMAT: 770 (49Q, 47V, 6.0 AWA)
Work Experience: 3 years (4 at matriculation) Fortune 500 aerospace company; On project team of large scale ERP system implementation. Extensive global business experience with travel to several other countries and direct work with business units in around a dozen. Role is both highly technical and cross-functional (main focus area is finance/accounting) requiring work with business units, developers, outside consultants, corporate management, bank technical integrators, etc. Work is most similar to that of a IT consultant.
Prior to this, served two rounds of internships at a Fortune 500 manufacturing company in information systems.
Extracurriculars: At school: cofounder and president of college bowl/quiz team. Ran club and organized large tournaments for high school students.
After graduation: Serving as city advocate for local (rust belt city) downtown coalition. Group of young professionals who collaborate on self-created projects to improve downtown ranging from community activism to business development. I'm extremely passionate about my city/area and feel that this will show through in my essays.
Other misc essay fodder: competitive distance runner; appeared on well known television quiz show; interesting experiences managing chronic condition
Goals/career directions: interested in entrepreneurship and finance. However, also could see myself creating a long term narrative of returning to my home city and providing badly needed leadership (perhaps in the form of real estate/development).
Questions/concerns: I'm worried about lack of leadership on my resume – especially at work. I can mitigate some of this with outlining projects as city advocate, but I feel like the work area is my weakest. Not sure as far as age goes whether a job change is necessary to enhance resume/provide diversity or this falls in line for other applicants my age.
Are Harvard/Stanford/Wharton way out of reach? Could I improve my profile markedly to help my chances? Or would you see something else as a better fit/level to look at?
