Hi there,
I just finished my GMAT and am already here to ask you this question, How do you see my profile ?.
Demography: Indian/Male/24
GMAT : 740
GPA: 3.7 from a good university
Work experience:
1. 2 years in R&D
2. Got promoted within 2 years
3. Tech leader for the projects and mentoring new engineers
4. Proposed an idea , which was voted for presentation at company HQ at Austin .
5. International working exposure.
Leadership Experience:
1. Founder and Chapter leader of Net Impact Bangalore professional chapter
2. Was responsible for coming up with a team from scratch to build the chapter
3. Managed to get memberships and was responsible in developing relationships with other NGO's
4. Started board fellows program
5. As a part of our green initiative, we tied up with local NGOs and organized two green events.
6. Partnered with a TEDx event and improved the visibility of Net Impact
Extra Curricular:
1. Started as a member , and then grew to be elected as the Vice-Chairperson of IEEE student branch in my undergrad
2. Was the head of financial committee for an annual national level technical event. My job was to find sponsors, and manage budget for the whole event.
3. Have participated and won 2 management case studies competition
4. Have won a national level project presentation competition organized by Agilent technologies
5. Have presented a paper in IEEE
Entrepreneurial:
Participated in a national level B plan competition by Economic times, and was selected to make a pitch to an Angel investor. Had to work on developing the complete b plan and present it to an investor. Due to my inexperience in the given field, I was not provided the funding.
Why I need MBA?
To develop the skills required to start my own company. To apply the skills developed to take my b-plan forward. I am looking for a school which is good in consulting as well as entrepreneurship.
I have sent my scores to MIT Sloan, Ross, UCB Haas, Kellogg and Duke. I spoke to some of the alumna of HBS and Stanford, they are pushing me to apply to these as well. Can you please provide me info on my chances on all the above mentioned schools. Also, any suggestions on what i should work on to get into these and your thoughts of the safe school in the list.

I think your friends have given you good advice. Obviously, it is harder (and less likely) to get accepted to Harvardand Stanford than to schools with higher acceptance rates. However, after reviewing your profile, I too would encourage you to give it a try. You may also want to consider UCLA and for a safety, UT.

Thanks Linda for your time. What are my chances at other b schools mentioned above apart from Harvard and Stanford. It ll be of great help , if you can provide some insights on the same.
