PTK : My reasoning was that the non underlined sentence states 'who was one of the first'. So a team of scientists worked on the invention of radio. And nikolas tesla was one among them, hence I picked including. Is the reasoning correct.?

Hi,

What is the reason why "especially Nikola Tesla" is wrong?
Is it because we need a verbal form in this?

Isn’t *including* in option C a verb-ing modifier??

Scientists made contributions...., including Nicola Tesla..... <—this doesn’t make any sense?

Also b d & e are gone due to ;

Left with a and c ... c is correct grammatically, but incorrect in terms of meaning( reason mentioned above).. A doesn’t make any sense..

radio, such as nikola tesla - "such as" is used to quote the examples. "Scientists" is too far from "such as". hence A is wrong.
if there is a semi colon then what comes after it has to be a sentence. B, D & E are wrong for this reason.

"C" -
Including acts as a preposition and can modify noun or action. Including is an exception to the rules of comma+ing. hence "including nikola tesla" is correct as including points to Scientists.

look at choice E.
if we do not have any connection word between the first independent clause and the ending phrase, the second phrase must be a full dependent clause. there is no full dependent clause at the end of the sentence, so, it is wrong

if we use a phrase, not a clause for the idea at the end of sentence, we need a connection word. the phrase at the end of the sentence is not a clause and we do not have a connection word. so, the sentence is wrong

we do not need to care about whether the semi colon is correct or not because the use of the semi colon is varied.
