As part of a protest against what he considered unlawful military action, the performance artist dressed in complete British Army camouflage fatigues, with commando boots wearing a red beret, and laid down in a street in the city center.

A)fatigues, with commando boots wearing a red beret
B)fatigues, with commando boots and a red beret
C)fatigues and commando boots, with a red beret
D)fatigues and commando boots and a red beret
E)fatigues, commando boots, a red beret

One can camouflage one thing at a time and in this could should be fatigues Not camouflage X, Y and Z.
So A and B left.

A says commando boots wearing a red beret... not logical

B rules !!

This is a question about modifier more than parallelism because each answer choice but B have a modifier problem. if you look at the wrong choices you can see how the boots wear a red beret and this has no sense, at all.

Even ig do not understand the meaning of the question you still tackle it under this standing point

Only B fix the problem of this question.

NB: this kind of question are the most harmful during the exam simple because are not the hardest but if you pick them wrong, can drop your score more than an hard question.

regards

Hi carcass
What is its difficulty level.

Well we have 2 scenarios: on one hand when we (me) are at the beginning of the study maybe this questipon is utterly mad and full of pitfalls; on the other hand when you are much deeper into the story you know that reading the question and looking at the answers you have immediately a modifier problem.

The first part before comma is a filler, then spot the subject and you suddenly figure out that all choices but B are the best of the bill because you need something similar to: X wears something (with something else eventually midifies this aformentioned something) and DO something else

All these things come up in your head in no more than 30 seconds. 650 level to be generous but even less

There's a small change needed in the non-underlined portion. Laid needs to be changed to lay.

... the performance artist dressed... and laid down in a street...

needs to be

if you say someone dressed with camouflage fatigues (which is the overall specification of how he was).

Then, with taking specificity HOW this sort of dress is composed: boots and blah blah

C says that the boots had the beret.

Hope now is more clear
