The principal at Ames Middle School hired a new math teacher, Mr. Jordan, after the former math teacher retired. After Mr. Jordan had worked for a year, the principal received some unsavory reviews of his performance. In fact, five letters were received from students, all stating that they hated Mr. Jordan. The principal took these statements to heart and fired Mr. Jordan, assuming that if a few students did not like Mr. Jordan, then most others felt the same way.
All of the following, if true, cast doubt on the advisability of the principal’s decision to fire Mr. Jordan EXCEPT:
(A) Students who like a teacher are much less likely to tell anyone about it than students who dislike a teacher.
(B) Most students who took Mr. Jordan’s class hated the subject matter.
(C) Principals throughout the state receive an average of 10 complaint letters about each math teacher every year.
(D) The five letters did not explicitly state the name of the disliked teacher, but the principal assumed that since there had never been complaints about anyone before, the students must have been referring to Mr. Jordan.

The task at hand is to eliminate those options which weaken/doubt the principal's decision to fire Mr. Jordan.
Answering to your doubt specifically -
C ) If it is a trend that an average of 10 complaint letters about each math teacher are received from students each year, it puts Mr. Jordan in good form who actually got only 5 letter in the previous year and hence should be instead rewarded for his performance. Since it doesn't justify Principal's decision, it should be eliminated.
E) Same as C, its a common thing that every teacher in state gets atleast 5 complaint letters in their first year, it will be wrong to fire Mr. Jordan who got just 5 letters in his first year. His performance has no bearing with the complaint letters which anyways everyone gets in their first year. So , eliminate E.
Even B, though mentions Subject as the primary reason for students' disgruntle, it also opens a possibility that the students might have started hating math since Mr. Jordan begun teaching it. So Choose B!
