The argument implies that improvement in writing automatically leads to improvement in composition skills. However in option E we already have first-graders with excellent composition skills, hence we cannot relate the two.

how did u rule out E? Please explain

I guess you liked E because you thought 'doing one activity better leads to more mental space for another activity'.In effect you may have generalised.We cannot generalise here because the conclusion specifically talks about one particular activity(producing characters) leading to something else....

it is vital for us to associate 'producing characters' to 'writing letters'.otherwise no way we could have got this correct I think
