The only reason Broadcaster gives for excessively intrusion is public interest . The argument doesn't give any proof that the public is interested in the private lives of celebrities.
It makes that assumption.
Only Choice E reflects that reasoning.
**Please correct me if my explanation seems deficient**

Premise : Our radio station has a responsibility to serve the public interest - this is the Broadcaster's statement.
Premise : Critics contend that celebs privates lives getting public - i.e. Critics say that Broadcaster is not doing anything related to public interest.
BC Conclusion : Public interest in these matters makes it our responsibility to publicize them.
Here the BC thinks that making celebs private lives is to serve the public interest by his counter. We can get information from the critics statement that such BC action is not at all related to the public interest.
So only option E fits the bill and all other options are irrelevant.
