OA does not sound convincing here. From the argument, it appears that the bold statement is a mere fact which is directly linked with the main conclusion.

Sorry to be a wet blanket here, but I agree with goforgmat and RMD007: this really isn't a very convincing GMAT question, and there's plenty of room to debate the answers, because they simply aren't airtight. Official GMAT questions can obviously get really, really difficult, but they don't leave room for ambiguity or debate.

I wouldn't lose sleep over this one, folks.
