option B is the only option that can be inferred

B. Advertisements of alcoholic drinks cannot be the only factor that affects the prevalence of drinking among young people.

We can conclude that advertisements are not the only factors that effecting the prevalence of alcohol in young people and banning it is not going to show any effects....

So B is inline with our conclusion...

conclusion ; a ban on the advertisement of alcoholic beverages since 1982, drinking is at least as prevalent among young people as it is in countries that do not have a similar ban.
IMO B is correct
Advertisements of alcoholic drinks cannot be the only factor that affects the prevalence of drinking among young people

Many people claim that advertisements of alcoholic drinks influence young people to start drinking socially. In Iceland, however, where there has been a ban on the advertisement of alcoholic beverages since 1982, drinking is at least as prevalent among young people as it is in countries that do not have a similar ban.

Which of the following statements draws the most reliable conclusion from the information above?

A. Advertising does not play a role in causing young people to start or continue drinking.
B. Advertisements of alcoholic drinks cannot be the only factor that affects the prevalence of drinking among young people.
C. Banning advertisements of alcoholic drinks does not reduce the consumption of alcoholic drinks.
D. More youths drink if they are not exposed to advertisements of alcoholic drinks than if they are.
E. Most youths who drank in 1982 did not stop when the ban on advertisements of alcoholic drinks was implemented.

Since alcohol is as prevalent in countries where there is a ban on advertisements, there must be another way by which people aware of alcohol.

The only statement that supports the above statement is B

IMO Option B

The stimulus states that many people claim that advertisement is the main factor which causes people to drink. But Iceland has banned alcohol advertisement yet if we compare it's young population who drinks to countries where advertisement is banned it is almost same.

The conclusion is that advertisement cannot be the only factor which causes drinking amongst the young.

IMO B

A. Advertising does not play a role in causing young people to start or continue drinking.
-> too extreme, eliminate this
B. Advertisements of alcoholic drinks cannot be the only factor that affects the prevalence of drinking among young people.
-> Related, leave it here
C. Banning advertisements of alcoholic drinks does not reduce the consumption of alcoholic drinks.
-> Another attracting choice, leave it here
D. More youths drink if they are not exposed to advertisements of alcoholic drinks than if they are.
-> Irrelevant, eliminate this
E. Most youths who drank in 1982 did not stop when the ban on advertisements of alcoholic drinks was implemented
-> Irrelevant, eliminate too

Between B and C, Ima go for C because this conclusion is more reliable

Many people claim that advertisements of alcoholic drinks influence young people to start drinking socially. In Iceland, however, where there has been a ban on the advertisement of alcoholic beverages since 1982, drinking is at least as prevalent among young people as it is in countries that do not have a similar ban.

Official Explanation:

Correct Answer: B

The best answer is B. If advertisements of alcoholic drinks were the only factor that affected young people’s drinking habits, there would be a difference in the prevalence of drinking between countries that ban such advertising and those that do not. According to the passage, there is no difference, so advertisements of alcoholic drinks cannot be the only factor.

ARGUMENT
[prem] Most believe that alcohol ads influence young to start drinking;
[prem] Iceland banned such ads, but drinking there is the same as in places where ads are not banned;
[con] Ads cannot be the only factor that influences young drinking.

A. we cannot conclude this, since young in countries with and without ads start/continue drinking;
C. we cannot conclude this, because we don't know if Iceland was an isolated case;
D. we cannot conclude this;
E. we cannot conclude this;

Answer (B): If with/without ads kids prevalence to drinking continued, then there must be something else.
