Hi,

Let me try to help break it down:

The argument treats lack of proof of the opposite as if it were proof of the claim itself.
[*]The unproven claim is: Underinflation or overinflation does not harm tire tread.
[*]The argument rejects that possibility, simply because no one has proven it.
[*]But something can be true even if it hasn’t been proven.

[*]This is exactly in line with what you said! Hope this helps! :)

The argument rejects the possibility that what has not been proven is nevertheless true.

Basically the argument rejects the possibility that what has not been proven, i.e, underinflation or overinflation of tires do not harm their thread is true, that is it considers it false because it is not proven
