Correct Answer is :(A)

Scientist's conclusion is :- The only people whose athlete’s foot cured ----given medication M.

Reporter's conclusion:- athlete’s foot that was not cured,------ that person did not receive medication M.

Pre-thinking:- Scientist says :-- A cause---B
but Reporter says:- Not A -- Not B ,
Means Reporter has taken mistaken reversal of scientist's conclusion.

Which one of the following most accurately describes the reporter’s error in reasoning?

(A) The reporter concludes from evidence showing only that M can cure athlete’s foot that M always cures athlete’s foot.:-According to option A
Medication M -- foot Cured
This answer choice is correctly shows the The contrapositive of a Mistaken Negation is taken by the reporter.
The reporter says Not foot cured---Not Medication M , Reversal of it is
Medication M ---foot Cured

(B) The reporter illicitly draws a conclusion about the population as a whole on the basis of a study conducted only on a sample of the population.:- This answer choice is incorrect. Reporter is not drawing the conclusion on the basis of small sample but he is drawing the conclusion taking mistaken reversal.

(C) The reporter presumes, without providing justification, that medications M and N are available to people who have athlete’s foot but did not participate in the study.:- Nothing is presumed For the participated in the study

(D) The reporter fails to allow for the possibility that athlete’s foot may be cured even if neither of the two medications studied is taken.:- Medication apart from M and N is out scope. Reporter is not concern about other medication

(E) The reporter presumes, without providing justification, that there is no sizeable subgroup of people whose athlete’s foot will be cured only if they do not take medication M.:-Size of the group is out of scope. Report is not concern about it
