The weights of one liter vegetable ghee packet of two brands ‘A’ and ‘B’ are 900 gm and 850 gm respectively. If they are mixed in the ratio of 3 : 2 by volumes to form a mixture of 4 liters, what is the weight (in kg) of the mixture?

The 2 brands are mixed in the ratio 3: 2 =>3x900 + 2x850 = 4400gm which is 5 lits by volume
So, 4 lits mixure is (4x4400)/5 = 3.52 kg

For new mixture,

Brand A = 3/5 * 900 = 540

Brand B = 2/5 * 850 = 340

Total = 880 Gms for 1 Litre
So for 4 lts = 880 x 4 = 3520 Gms = 3.52 KG

@unceldolan I think basically the question is about Volume (litres) and weight (grams)
We have the ratio in volume and the answer is asked in weight  
Also, its my bad coz this question is not a GMAT question. Just found interesting so I posted it. I don't know what system is used in Gmat (probably pounds,miles,etc)
1000gm = 1 kg = 2.2 (approx.) pound

Here's how I did it. My notes from reading the problem were:

1L A = 900 gm
1L B = 850 gm

We are mixing five parts (3 parts A plus 2 parts B, 5 parts total) to get 4L, so 5x = 4 ---> x = 4/5. Each "part" is 4/5 of a liter.

So if we have 3 parts A, we have 900*3*(4/5) = 2160
If we have 2 parts B, we have 850*2*(4/5) = 1360

2160 + 1360 = 3520

Solving for units gives us 3.52

So the answer is C

  Required  : Quantity of ghee in the mixture?

The new mixture is in the ratio of 3:2
Quantity of Brand A in the mixture = 3/5*900 gms = 540 gms
Quantity of Brand B in the mixture = 2/5*850 gms = 340 gms

Hence we have 880 gms for 1 lt of mixture.

Total gms for 4 lts = 880*4 = 3520 gms or 3.52 Kgs

A = 3/5 x 4L = 12/5L = 2 + 2/5L ; B = 2/5 x 4L = 8/5L = 1 + 3/5L
For A, 1L = 900gm so 2 + 2/5L = 1800gm + 360gm = 2160gm
For B, 1L = 850gm so 1 + 3/5L = 850gm + 510gm = 1360gm
Total = 2160gm + 1360gm = 3520gm = 3.52kg
