Total sum of price of all 1 kg of all cheese= 19+17+15=51$

Total cheese sold = 20 kg

Total sales=51*20=1020 $.. Hence answer is D

Tough and Tricky questions: Word Problems.

Deli A sells the equal number of kilograms of American, Provolone and Swiss cheese each day. If Deli A sold 60 kilograms of cheese yesterday, what were the total sale proceeds from the cheese it sold?

A. $340
B. $380
C. $720
D. $1020
E. $1230

Kudos for a correct solution.

OFFICIAL SOLUTION:

(D) If the weight is the same for each item, then there are 60/3 = 20 kilograms for each American, Swiss and Provolone cheese. Now we can calculate sale proceeds from each type.

American: $15 × 20 = $300.
Provolone: $17 × 20 = $340
Swiss: $19 × 20 = $380

The total sales are $300 + $340 + $380 = $1020.

The correct answer is D.

Important to notice that since (Amer) and (Swiss) are equidistant from (Prov), it is sufficient to multiply (Prov) for the total quantities.

American -2 $ vs. Provolone; Swiss +2$ vs. Provolone.

Provolone --> 17$ * 60 Kg = 1020

20 kg of each type of cheese was sold in Deli A, so the revenue is:

20 x 15 + 20 x 17 + 20 x 19 = 300 + 340 + 380 = 1,020

Answer: D
