Just posting different approach to the problem

Bunuel
If 10 and 8 are factors of Q,

Least possible value of Q = 80

Calling it least because the Maximum value of Q can be \(10^{number}\) x \(8^{number}\)

Bunuel
which of the following is the largest number that must divide evenly into Q?

Options are given

Quote:
A. 12
B. 40
C. 50
D. 75
E. 100

Now check using each option -

A. 12

80/12 Not divisible evenly

B. 40

80/40 = 2

C. 50

80/50 Not divisible evenly

D. 75

80/75 Not divisible evenly

E. 100

80/100 Not divisible evenly

Except (B) the minimum value of Q is not divisible by any of the options , so answer must be (B)

Lcm of 8 and 10=40.
hence the least positive integer Q will b 40.
Thus highest number that can be a factor is 40.
Hence B.

-->
Notice Q can also be zero.
But then 0 is divisible by every post integer.Hence it is immaterial.

Since 10 and 8 are factors of Q, Q is at least divisible by the least common multiple of 10 and 8, which is 40. Thus, the largest number that MUST divide into Q is 40.
