5x^2 - 1.9x - 3.7, x =-0.3

Firstly, 5x^2 can be written as 5 * x * x - substituting one of the x with -0.3

We have -1.5x - 1.9x -3.7 ---> -3.4x-3.7 ---> -3.4 (-0.3) -3.7 ---> 1.02 - 3.7 = -2.68

We have

\(5 * \frac{3}{10}^2 - \frac{19}{10} * -\frac{3}{10} - \frac{37}{10} = 5*\frac{9}{100} + \frac{19}{10} * \frac{3}{10} - \frac{37}{10} = \frac{45}{100} + \frac{57}{100} - \frac{370}{100} = \frac{102}{100} - \frac{370}{100} = -\frac{268}{100} = - 2.68\)

Option D

Kudos should you like the detailed solution.

What is the value of 5x^2 − 1.9x − 3.7 for x = − 0.3?

A. −4.72
B. −3.82
C. −3.58
D. −2.68
E. 0.57
\(5x^2 − 1.9x − 3.7\)

Or, \(x (5x − 1.9) − 3.7\)

Or, \(− 0.3 (5*− 0.3 − 1.9) − 3.7\)

Or, \(− 0.3 (− 1.5 − 1.9) − 3.7\)

Or, \(− 0.3*−3.4 − 3.7\)

Or, \(− 0.3*−3.4 − 3.7\)

Or, \(1.02 − 3.7\)

Or, \(−2.68\)

Hence, answer will be (D)...
