If the average of 2x and 4x is 12, then x =

(A) 1
(B) 2
(C) 3
(D) 4
(E) 24

\(\frac{2x + 4x}{2} = 12\)

Or, \(3x = 12\)

Or, \(x = 4\)

Hence, answer will be (D) 4

(A) 1
(B) 2
(C) 3
(D) 4
(E) 24

We can create the equation:

(2x + 4x)/2 = 12

6x/2 = 12

6x = 24

x = 4

Answer: D
