x+3/10= int implies x+3 is div by 10

x =10-3 = 7
Possible values of x can be obtained by adding the dividend 10
x= 7,17,27,37
When any possible x is divided by 5; the remainder is always 2.

Option C

A) 0
B) 1
C) 2
D) 3
E) 4

Since (x+3)/10 is a positive integer, we can let x = 7, 17, 27, etc.

We see that when any of these values for x is divided by 5, the remainder is 2.

Answer: C

Asked: If (x + 3)/10 is a positive integer, then the remainder, when x is divided by 5 is?

x + 3 = 10k
x = 10k - 3 = 10m + 7
x = 2(5m) + 5 + 2
x = 5(2m+1) + 2

(x + 3)/10 is a positive integer

\(\frac{x+3}{10}\) = k (an integer)
=> x + 3 = 10k
=> x = 10k - 3

The remainder, when x is divided by 5

Remainder of x by 5 = Remainder of 10k - 3 by 5
= Remainder of 10k by 5 + Remainder of -3 by 5
= 0 + (-3) + 5 = 2

So, Answer will be C
Hope it helps!
