\(\frac{x}{2} − 5 = x − 23\). What is the value of x?

A. 9
B. 13
C. 18
D. 28
E. 36

Given: x/2 - 5 = x - 23
Eliminate the fraction by multiplying both sides by 2 to get: x - 10 = 2x - 46
Subtract x from both sides: -10 = x - 46

The answer is 36.

x-10=2x-46
x=36

Is this question a 600-700 level question? I found this question in 600-700 level category but it seems to be pretty straightforward.

We can simplify the given equation:

x/2 - 5 = x - 23

x/2 + 18 = x

Multiplying by 2, we have:

x + 36 = 2x

36 = x

Given that \(\frac{x}{2} − 5 = x − 23\) and we need to find the value of x

\(\frac{x}{2} − 5 = x − 23\)

Multiplying both the sides by 2 we get

x - 2*5 = 2*x - 2*23 = 2x - 46
=> x - 10 = 2x - 46
=> 2x - x = 46 - 10 = 36
=> x = 36

So, Answer will be E
Hope it helps!
