Yes, it's not clear what the 4:5:6 ratio has to do with the actual problem, and I also get 85 as the answer. It's a standard 3-part ratio question where we have:

a to b to c
1 to 3
.......2 to 3

and getting the same number for b (multiplying the first row by 2, the second by 3) we get

a to b to c
2 to 6 to 9

So b is 6/17 of the total mixture (2 + 6 + 9 = 17), and if the actual value of b is 30 = 5*6, the total amount must be 5*17 = 85.

Since the 4:5:6 ratio at the start of the question ends up being irrelevant, I'd have to guess whoever wrote the question intended to ask something else, but as the question is written, there's something wrong with it or with the answer choices.

A'/B' = 1/3*4/5 = 4/15
B'/C' = 2/3*5/6 =5/9
A':B':C' = 4:15:27
15x=30ml
x=2ml
total= 4+15+27 = 46x
total = 46*2 = 92ml

I got it by eliminating options , after altering a/b=1:3,b:c=2:3, that indicates 3/4 th of a+b is b and also 2/5th of b+c is also b, remember that both quantities are equal so 3/4x= 2/5y cross multiplying it becomes 15x=8y >>>> x/y= 8/15 so x is 8/23 and y is 15/23 of total, in options the only multiple of 23 is 92 , so E is the answer

Given that the ratio of A, B, C is 4:5:6.

After alteration the ratio of A:B is 1/3
Thus, AB=1/3(4/5)=4/15
Similarly, after alteration the ratio of B:C is 23
Thus, BC=2/3(5/6)=5/9=(5×3)/(9×3)=15/27
Hence, after alteration the new ratios of A, B, C will be 4:15:27

Now, as the new chemical solution formed contains 30 ml of acid B, thus the values of A and

C will be 8 and 54 respectively {As the ratio between A, B, C is 4:15:27}

Therefore, the total volume of the new chemical solution formed is:

= 8 + 30 + 54 = 92

Given that the ratio of A, B, C is 4:5:6.

After alteration the ratio of A:B is \frac{1}{3}

Thus, AB=13(45)=415
Similarly, after alteration the ratio of B:C is 23
Thus, BC=23(56)=59=5×39×3=1527
Hence, after alteration the new ratios of A, B, C will be 4:15:27

Now, as the new chemical solution formed contains 30 ml of acid B, thus the values of A and

C will be 8 and 54 respectively {As the ratio between A, B, C is 4:15:27}

Therefore, the total volume of the new chemical solution formed is:

= 8 + 30 + 54 = 92

Hey jprac

Could you please quote the rationale for multiplying the ratios (Thus, AB=1/3(4/5)=4/15)?
