In 40 seconds, a mountain biker travels 230 feet. What is her speed in miles per hour? (Note: 1 mile = 5280 feet)

A. \(\frac{230*60*60}{40*5280}\)

B. \(\frac{230*5280}{40*60*60}\)

C. \(\frac{40*60*60}{230*5280}\)

D. \(\frac{40*60*60*230}{5280}\)

E. \(\frac{40*60*60*5280}{230}\)

The speed, in miles per hour, is:

(230/5280)/(40/3600)

(230 x 60 x 60)/(5280 x 40)

Answer: A

Given that 5280 feet = 1 mile
Hence, 230 feet = (1/5280) * 230 = 230/5280 miles
Hence, distance is 230/5280 miles

We know 1 hour = 60 * 60 seconds
So, 40 seconds = 40/(60 * 60) hours
Time = 40/(60 * 60) hours

Speed = Distance/Time = {230/5280}/{40/(60 * 60)} = {230 * 60 * 60}/{40 * 5280}
The answer is (A)
