Let oil change cost be x, let cost of oil filter be y, z be cost of standard air filter, and d be cost of deluxe air filter.
Then we can deduce the following equations from the question stem:
30=x+y+z ..............(1)
42=x+y+d ..............(2)
(2)-(1): 12=d-z .......(3)
But we know from the question stem that d=4z
Therefore 12=3z meaning d=4.
The answer is therefore B.
