A water tank has three taps A, B, and C. A fills four buckets in 24 mins, B fills 8 buckets in 1 hour and C fills 2 buckets in 20 minutes. If all the taps are opened together a full tank is emptied in 2 hours. If a bucket can hold 5 litres of water, what is the capacity of the tank?

A fills 4 buckets i.e. 20 lt. in 24 mins
i.e. in 120 minutes, A will empty 100 lt
B fills 8 buckets i.e. 40 lt. in 1 hour i.e. 60 minutes
i.e. in 120 minutes, B will empty 80 lt
C fills 2 buckets i.e. 10 lt. in 20 minutes
i.e. in 120 minutes, A will empty 60 lt
A, B and C together will emplty quantity = 100+80+60 = 240 Litres
i.e. Capacity of Tank = 240 Liters

Capacity of each bucket is 5L
Tap A
In 24min, A fills 4 buckets
So in 60min, A will fill \(\frac{60*4}{24}\) = 10 buckets
So in 2hrs, A fills 20 buckets
Water emptied by tap A = 20*5 = 100 Litres
Tap B,
In 1hr, B fills 8 buckets.
So in 2hrs, B fills 16 buckets
Water emptied by tap B = 16*5 = 80 Litres
Tap C,
In 20min, C fills 2 buckets.
So in 2hrs, C fills 12 buckets.
Water emptied by tap C = 12*5 = 60 Litres
Total water emptied by all 3 taps = Capacity of the tank = 100+80+60 = 240 Litres
