i.e. x also is a multiple of 3
x may be {0, 3, 6, 9...} = 3a
(A) x = 3a i.e. a multiple of 3
(B) x + 6 = 3a+6 = 3(a+2) i.e. a multiple of 3
(C) 3x + 5 = 3a+5 i.e. NOT a multiple of 3
(D) 2x + 6 = 6a+6 = 3(2a+2) i.e. a multiple of 3
(E) 6x + 18 = 18a+18 = 3(6a+6) i.e. a multiple of 3

Given: x > 0, and x + 3 is a multiple of 3,
To find: which of the following is not a multiple of 3?
Solution: Since X+3 is a multiple of 3, X is also a multiple of 3. Let X = 3
(A) x = 3 (multiple of 3)
(B) x + 6
=> 3+6 = 9 (multiple of 3)
(C) 3x + 5
=> 3(3)+5 = 9+5 = 14 (not a multiple of 3)
(D) 2x + 6
=> 2(3)+6 = 6+6 = 12 (multiple of 3)
(E) 6x + 18
=> 6(3)+18 = 18+18 = 36 (multiple of 3)
